OKAY MAYBE IT'S JUST I'M A PERVERT BECAUSE I'M LOOKING AT THOSE PICTURES OF CURSOE AND CHOCKING WITH GLEE AND HOTNESS BUT THE COMMENTS ON IT ARE ALL IT'S WAS A GOOD FAMILY SHOW AND PEOPLE WATCHED IT WITH THEIR NINE YEAR OLDS. WELL. I FEEL LIKE THE HARRY POTTER THAT HAS A 24 HOUR PORN SHOW IN HIS HEAD AND I'M GRATEFUL. PS MY BOSS IS A HARPY - DOES SUPERNATURAL SAY HOW TO KILL THEM?

This post got me thinking about what exactly I would count as slash and what I count as canon.

First Class is in canon for me as it was purposely cut to lean towards a Erik/Charles relationship with canon backup [they were ex-lovers in the Ultimates version and in 616 they're ridiculously stalker] plus the comments McAvoy made about them, and the ones he made to Fassbender. [Of course the original movies were made by Bryan Singer so that all was on purpose plus you know, McKellan stalking Marsden.]

[BBC]Sherlock is canon for John. They said it's not for Sherlock which only makes sense if Sherlock is asexual. If he's not asexual then he has some kind of sexual interest in John.

It gets a little more blurry in stuff like the Sentinel where the writing was really, really gay, [note in the comments about them laughing their asses off about that stuff producers: What do you mean it's gay? Actors: What do you mean what do we mean?] but those guys were also basically soulmates irl or something and that definitely came through too.

Then there is stuff like SGA which was most likely Flanagan fucking around for lulz or something.

I guess it's basically a question of what is wishful thinking and what is on purpose and what is the actors just fucking obsessing over another actor. JUDE LAW.

[For instance in Sherlock Cumberbatch is clearly playing something different from what the producers are stating. irl I'm sure he adores Freeman because it's Freeman but I think it's more in a omg I'm going to poke him so he turns on me and calls me a cockstained donkey pisser who should be raped with a tire iron. Which I would totally do constantly to learn new swear words.]

I admit there are several shows were I sometimes have to pause them and be like what the fuck did I just watch because it's just so obvious and over the top. White Collar does that a lot. It's not even Neal doing it because I could sort of let that shit go since if MB wants to hit on Tim DeKay whatevs but 90% of the time it's Peter making these crazy ass comments. Then I spend twenty minutes trying to work out if Peter thinks he is Neal's dad or his boyfriend. I'm still not sure, but I'm going with Neal dating El and Peter's nine inch cock.

I think there was a point to this post but I lost it. I'm trying to think of any male friendships I don't slash and yeah, Sean and Gus come to mind but they're married on the show basically anyway. Bones and Jim? Though I will read porn about them because it's there and why not. Brian and Michael! I anti-ship them. Ron and Harry. Oh fuck it.

Anyway, I am curious who specifically forms canon. Producers can say whatever they want about a show but writers and actors add to the canon too. [Overlap may vary.]

I think it's just as much if not more often the writers winking at the audience once they know the characters are a popular slash pairing as opposed to the actors. SPN and WC are prime examples of this IMO.

hahahah SPN.

White Collar is obviously making a lot of meta jokes too which is nice.

I'm watching a vid for Crusoe and I think the gay porn I have open in the other tab is less gay. What even how do I. what.

Oh, SPN... Dean/Cas, White Blank Page (spoilers through the end of season six). It's like slash canon bingo.

I most definitely agree re: your take on the characters' and/or actors' relationship/dynamics with their partner on XMFC, TS and Sherlock and OF COURSE White Collar. I'll add that, sure, it's in Peter's comments to and about Neal but even more than that, it's in his looks. Omg, the way he looks at Neal? Both when Neal is watching and, sometimes even more interesting, when Neal is not. The looks, mate, they kill me dead!

Argh, why do not I have a WhiCo icon with Teh Look? #Sulks

Ok, off to work now. Even though you made me want to stay in and watch White Collar again. Which is a desire I have on a very regular basis, mind.

That time on the show when El basically implied that Peter had her forever and of course now he has Neal forever too, I was like um, okay? How am I to take that?

[That episode with the cars where Peter said El was glad his CI was not a lady and I was stared at the screen for ten minutes straight and was like okay, my guess is because then she wouldn't also want to screw your CI? Like somehow Neal is less trouble? Or less hot? Baffled.]

True, Peter does stare at Neal! It's so cute! Neal stares back! I think my common denominator is that I only really enjoy it when it's borderline crazy stalking of each other in relationships. Which Peter being all I know everything about you and tell me all the things I don't know right away totally brings.

:D I'd apologize but I'm not certain you want me to be sorry.

Well, I mean, White Collar it's obviously intentional. The fact that their main promo pic was Peter kissing El while handcuffed to Neal says it all right there.
