Yes! I'm not sure why they changed the boots [because I am a total whore for Steve's normal boots] but I love that they smoothed down the uniform so it looks like the Cap uniform inspired by the Super Soldier uniform Steve was wearing before he took the mantle back from Bucky.
Yeah, I like the other boots, but it's hard for me to focus on anything but his thighs. This movie is going to be so pretty. I need all the resulting fic now. Team orgies for everyone!! And, lol, Thor cape.
Yes, his thighs are pretty awesome. I'm probably going to cry in the theater I'll be so excited. The Steve_Tony big bang is going to post soonish! That I dropped out of because I suck but I am still looking forward to the other stuff coming.
And, lol, Thor cape.
I really, really hope they all put on their costumes the first day and then sat around giggling for an hour. I totally would have.
I hope Tony gropes everyone. I also hope that at least once, Steve has to pick Tony up and haul him away from something because that is bulletproof for me.
Aw, Tony and your daddy issues. Seriously though, I'm depressed about how the cheerful dork from Cap could turn into the withdrawn father who shipped off his son to boarding school. ?
Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. And actually I don't think he really had Tony's technical genius: he had a lot, but it was probably apparent when Tony was still fairly young that his son was going to surpass him, by like a lot. And running that business had to kill the soul. (esp with Stane as his partner, jesus.) So there was that.
(although, the outtakes that tony watched in IM2 where Howard goes "and now let me show you... my ass" and shakes it at the camera was hysterical)
I am a little curious when Tony is going to realize that Howard did not invent a new element though - just figured out the chemical makeup of it. I guess when he gets a hold of Steve's shield he'll work that out.
So I agree it could have been that his son was going to out do him by such a degree but it could have also been because he felt so constrained by his time. To know you are capable of such amazing things, and see in front of you things like making Cap., and knowing you still can't make elements would drive someone nuts.
And yes, especially with Stane as his partner. Maybe he made a lot of sacrifrices as a person to make sure that Tony would have all the pieces he needed to fix things in the world and that made him bitter.
And he couldn't manufacture the new element, which Tony could because technology has advanced that far. And okay, yeah, I could definitely see that: Howard's ideas were leapfrogging ahead of established science so far that he didn't even have the tools to get there, whereas in Tony's time he has enough of everyone else's work to do his incredible things. Not just the Iron Man armor, or his advances in computer science or a computer AI, but actually creating completely clean energy. I mean, the arc reactor alone is the kind of accomplishment that most people can only vaguely dream about.
Maybe he made a lot of sacrifrices as a person to make sure that Tony would have all the pieces he needed to fix things in the world and that made him bitter. Wow, that's actually kind of depressing now that I think about it that way.
I'm thinking about this more and actually that last part makes a lot of sense in terms of what he gave Tony is so vicious in order to do the right thing. He gives away pieces of himself all the time. Howard probably wanted to follow Steve's example but he did it his way - by making a company that would allow him to make big changes - that could fight people like the Red Skull - and then keep going until his greatest creation would save the world.
That's the Stark arrogance and goodness in a nutshell.
