based on the theory that the fetus can feel pain at that point — a notion disputed by mainstream medical organizations in the United States and Britain.

Date: 2011-06-28 02:14 am (UTC)I am mostly disgusted by the fact that these people act like people in their 20+ week of pregnancy have abortions for the hell of it INSTEAD OF 99.9% OF THESE ABORTIONS BEING BECAUSE THEY ARE A DANGER OR THE BABY IS FUCKING DEAD OR DYING.
It's gross and inhuman to treat someone like they can't decide what to do with their own fucking bodies or how to handle their health and I can't figure out what they propose to get out of this other than to control women and idk punish them for not having perfect genetics? If I see another "baby" "alive" with nothing but a brain stem I am seriously going to start setting things on fire.

Which isn't true.
Most women agonize over this. It's not a choice just for laughs. It's a serious decision and they are in control. I'm sure some could be forced or whatever but still.

In all honesty, it wouldn't matter so much if it was. We can't take care of the influx of children and especially children who would have serious medical needs their entire lives that would come about if we had no abortions. On top of which, the increase in women dying in childbirth would increase by a huge margin, medical costs for childbirth would skyrocket, etc...and most of the children would be dumped on the state or born to indifferent parents and then the crime rate would go up and in the long run we'd end up with child gangs roaming the street probably.
I'm not sure why it's being fault as a moral issue when not allowing it would actually cause a huge number of problems that would result in a lower quality of life for everyone. That seems a lot more immoral to me. I am sure there are women who are threatened into abortions, but given the sheer amt. of crap you have to overcome now I'd say that number is pretty low.

I figured as much. She was weird and kinda zealous in her beliefs. I tried to tell her how much good having this available was but I was wrong, yatta yatta yatta.

I'm not sure, but I think this is generally indicative of how the republican party works. "Oh, under educated people and conservatives aren't sure if something's okay or not? Well, let's make up shit and bring Jesus into it so we can get their votes!"
Bunch of fucking scumbags. And I feel terrible for that couple referenced in the article, no one should have to go through something like that.
