Jan. 17th, 2011 07:33 pmTODAY WAS COMIC DAY.
knwrgnwrehwe all the comics were good! I'm going to have to knock on wood for the rest of the month.
I picked up Red Robin #19, Superboy #3, Avengers: Children's Crusade 4 of 9, Avengers Prime 5 of 5, and Batman Beyond #1.
Red Robin #19 - it was interesting, I like the story idea, I loved the Red Robin costume variant. KEEP THAT COSTUME IT'S WAY BETTER! I love that they're using the Unternet and stuff from Final Crisis because fuck, that was an interesting idea and the stuff they bring up in the comic about Darkseid's influence, blah blah. All interesting. The Joker was in there wearing the suit Jason died in, with the bloody crowbar in the belt. I am sure my face upon viewing that artwork was probably hilarious. [Note: They are in a virtual realm.] My favorite part was Lonnie running around in his body in costume. I love Anarky. I miss him so much. The second one doesn't exist as far as I'm concerned. Lonnie is Tim's new best friend? /amused/ That's fine though, since Cassie can't seem to call her damn boyfriend back, I vote Tim gets him for sexytimes.
Avengers Prime #5: Who even cares, I bought it for Tony and Steve, and it was worth every penny. They should get married.
Avengers CC #4: I AM NOT SAYING A WORD ABOUT THIS COMIC. READ THE GODDAMN COMIC. Wait, one thing, Teddy, ilu. The reviewer of this comic I read was confused where this mini fits in the Marvel time line, which I don't get, because I just thought it was AH continuing on with his characters with more stuff added onto what he already wrote and you can shoehorn it in later behind the scenes somewhere. I came to this conclusion as soon as I saw Iron Man and Cap seemed totally fine with no issues. I could be wrong.
Superboy #3: It's a little jumpy - I think the dude is trying to set up several different storylines at once to interweave so it's kind of back and forth. I like it though. I did not like the cover because that's not hot, but Omens did like it so YMMV - I did like the photorealistic cover on Cap America on trial though so it's the hotness part because damn Bucky looked fine. [Anyway want to tell me what specific thing he is on trial for? I mean he's kind of done a lot of shit.] Lori saw Kon take off his shirt to the Superboy shirt and part of me was OH SHI- and the other part of me was like, wait, how did she not know? But she kind of did, so eh, whatever. Not like I see her helping Lex for any reason after what he did.
Kon told Simon they can't be friends as Superboy and as Conner. Kon. Kon. What the fuck are you doing? Don't screw the kid up because you aren't paying attention! DON'T BE CLARK. I see Kon's point and all, yo, but tell Simon to wear a damn mask when he follows you around. Call him Frog Lad or something. There's also some kid called Psonic Lad from 2216 knocking out everyone but Kon [but still hurting him] and Lori was not effected at all. I've got nothing there - either she's a meta, which would be interesting considering Lex didn't even have a recessive meta gene [per 52] Which always made me wonder how they spliced his genes with Clark's because the metas should actually be closer to Kryptonians but in other stories lots of women had kids with Clark somehow, so I'm over thinking this, or Lex did something to her DNA. Also, due to the creepy people overgrowing the land, Kon is worried about the farmers, and he calls Bart, who conducts phone calls the way I figured, ie, you call and he shows up in person, to challenge him to a for charity Kid Flash v. Superboy race.
Bart is all, I don't think I should embarrass you like that and I was superbusy trying not to coo at Bart's tiny face of awesome on the bus. I'm trying to work out how bad Bart is going to kick Kon's ass there, but who cares as long as they in comics together. So it was a good comic. I'm giving obscure Vertigo writer guy my kudos. Somewhere in there Kon tried to call Cassie and was all, I haven't heard from you, blah blah, and I know they're being strange in the Teen Titans too - KON, DATE TIM. FOR ME. COME ON. I mean he might ignore your ass for awhile too while he's busy playing with Tam and Lonnie but you can rest assured that he's still spying on you with some Bat gear out of love.
Batman Beyond #1: Hi Terry. I have missed you. The art on Old Bruce was failastic, but otherwise, it was all good. I can't remember who tiny midget Green Lantern is though and it's driving me nuts.

Date: 2011-01-18 05:39 am (UTC)Kon should totally date Tim. :D
Also I like the guy who's writing Superboy. His book Sweet Tooth is pretty good. Weird, but good.

Date: 2011-01-20 04:56 am (UTC)I want the comic for some reason. Damn the allure of shiny sidekicks.
That keeps coming up when I look at volumes of the Unwritten. I'm done with vol #2 now which is up to #12 right? It was ~fantastic~ I gave it to my roommate to read before her mom comes up and I let them borrow it because I think her mom and dad will both like it, and we give them comics a lot.

Date: 2011-01-21 07:34 pm (UTC)YAY for making people read Unwritten! We have a stack of issue #1 at the store that we just give to people/make them take because we got a whole box of them from the DC table at Heroes Con two years ago. It's so good. :D
